Photo requirements at a glance
- The official mission checklist requires the photo to be 30 x 40 mm (width x height). The current regulation (MK No.564 § 28.2) and the PMLP central pages publish no photo dimensions.
- One colour document photo must be provided.
- The photo must be in colour, as officially stated.
- Background, face geometry, and recency are not stated on the mission page, in the current regulation, or on the PMLP central pages.
- The face image captured for the residence permit card itself (biometrijas dati at the PMLP office or the mission) is a separate photo from the document photo the applicant prepares.
Face photo requirements
For a Latvia residence permit application submitted through a Latvian diplomatic mission abroad, the photo size is stated on the mission consular information page. The current regulation (MK No.564 "Uzturēšanās atļauju noteikumi" § 28.2) lists the photo among the required documents without dimensions, and the PMLP central pages publish no photo dimensions.
The Latvia Schengen visa (35×45 mm) is a separate application within the same country, with a different photo size. Creating, printing, and submitting the photo remain the applicant's own actions (this tool prepares the print photo only and does not submit on your behalf).
What to check before you submit
The phrase “passport-size” alone does not set a fixed value such as 35×45 mm. In the Tool, enter the dimensions shown by the current application guidance.
