1. Start with the route

Pakistan Online Visa is not one universal photo workflow. The regular POVS routes, VPA, the current general mobile flow, and mission/manual submissions each have their own rules.

  • Confirm the route and application channel first.
  • Do not fall back to Regular POVS values for other routes.

2. Prepare the Regular POVS photo

The current official guidance lists 35 × 45 mm, 6 months, plain-white, and face occupancy 70–80%. These are physical/appearance facts; they do not establish digital pixels or a global byte cap.

  • Keep the face and likeness unchanged.
  • Treat the digital upload check as unconfirmed until you see it on the logged-in portal.

3. Different upload limits, side by side

The public photograph guidance, the generic upload page HTML, and an official upload PDF show different byte limits. The official Regular POVS pages currently show different upload limits and older pixel guidance. No single digital byte or pixel value is presented as the rule.

  • Do not treat 350KB, 500KB, or 7MB as one universal limit.
  • Mission-specific 200KB evidence must not be promoted to Pakistan-wide policy.

4. Separate passport and supporting documents

The passport bio-data page is a separate file with JPEG / JPG / PNG / PDF. Supporting documents use JPEG / JPG / PNG / PDF; page count, certification, and exact format rules are not published as one global rule.

  • Preserve the source document unless the selected route says otherwise.
  • Do not use a passport page as the face-photo file.

5. Mobile and mission boundaries

VPA live photograph / facial liveness is an app-managed flow, not an external prepared-photo requirement. The current general mobile flow is a separate application path from the Regular POVS upload checks shown after you sign in to the portal. Guangzhou and Chengdu 200KB/original-only evidence is mission-scoped and is not a Pakistan-wide limit.

  • App-managed capture is not proof of an external prepared-photo requirement.
  • Recheck the live official route instructions before upload or appointment.
