Photo requirements

The photo size, format, and background conditions for the application.

• The Portugal MFA national visa document pages (identical wording on the temporary stay, residency, and CPLP pages) require "2 Photos, even, passport type, recent and in good condition to identify the applicant", and Decree-Regulation 84/2007 Art. 12.º(1)(a) likewise confirms two identical passport-type photographs in colour on a plain background. The count of two, the colour, and the plain background appear in both the document pages and the decree.
• The authority publishes no photo dimensions in millimetres. None of the official sources — the MFA document pages, the Embassy of Portugal in Tokyo page, the route-specific checklist, or the decree — states a numeric size. 35×45 mm is the value used for the separate Schengen C (short-stay) visa, not a National visa requirement.
